The birth of the Classic Panettone as a traditional Christmas cake may be attributed to Gioacchino Alemagna, the great grandfather of the T’a Milano founders Tancredi and Alberto Alemagna. The Panettone itself, however, originated much further back, at the time of Ludovico il Moro. Since then there have been many variations on the theme, with the Panettone being prepared with a variety of added ingredients. A real must in the confectionery world is the pairing of pears and chocolate, and the Panettone is no exception, the sweetness of the candied pears setting off the acidity of the dark chocolate in a perfect balance of flavours – a treat for true connoisseurs.

To celebrate Christmas and enhance the flavour and aroma of the Pear and Chocolate Panettone, pair it with a bottle of Italian sparkling wine to underscore the sweetness of the pears and the contrast provided by the dark chocolate. Happy holiday season with T’a Milano!
